TERMS AND CONDITIONS JANUARY 2024
The Assembly will take place at the location specified by the Customer, and will be confirmed and carried out by an ' Independent Self Employed Assembler' – ISEA, carrying out the build. It is very important to confirm the quantity & condition of all items to be assembled and the assembly location (type of property, room, any specific requirements or special conditions i.e parking restrictions, red routes, listed building status etc) that may apply in the assembly location, subject to the following conditions:
1. The Assembly Service costs will be communicated during the initial stage of booking and will be confirmed by your ISEA on the day of assembly. All work carried out and payment is an agreed contract with the Customer and the ISEA carrying out the work, each party is responsible for their own actions. Any disputes should be resolved between the Customer and the ISEA carrying out the work
Note: Levelling units & fixing of units to walls may incur an additional charge, please see the section titled ‘Attaching goods to the wall’ below.
2. It is the Customers responsibility to check that all flat packs that require assembling are in good condition, free of any obvious damage, and that they are placed in the room of assembly. The delivery companies may place the products in the room of your choice (subject to their conditions), otherwise please make your own arrangements to have the product placed in the room of assembly. If your flat packs are not available in the assembly room or nearby your ISEA reserves the right to discuss charges for addition work or fail the assembly, this may incur a cancellation fee.
3. Your ISEA will not be responsible for missing or damaged items (as long as the damage has not occurred during the assembly process) Arranging for replacement/missing parts is the Customer’s responsibility.
4. Where complex system furniture is being assembled(e.g. Pax wardrobes or Besta living room furniture) it is the Customer’s responsibility to provide a detailed plan of the final unit layout, showing the location of all internal rails, draws and shelves etc, and left or right door hinge locations. Providing this in advance along with any picking lists by email (support @webuildikeafurniture.co.uk) will significantly help the assembling process and ensure a more accurate price quotation.
5. The Customer is responsible for ensuring that access and sufficient space is available for assembly work to be completed safely. Sufficient space means: there should be enough space to build the product frames on the floor whilst also being able to walk around the items. There must be enough space to store and move items around while the assembly is being completed as well as storage space for products, tools and waste materials. The above also applies if Pax 236cm frames are being built in the upright position.
6. If your ISEA considers that the room of your choice is unsuitable and/ or that assembly in that room is likely to cause damage to the goods or property, they will inform you of this, should you wish to halt the assembly the ISEA reserves the right to charge a standard ,failed Assembly’ fee. You may elect to continue with the assembly in spite of the identified concerns, in which case you will be asked to agree to, complete and sign an ‘Assembly Waiver Form’ which means your ISEA and anybody involved with your assembly will have any liability whatsoever for any damage caused to the goods or your property as a consequence of your ISEA attempting such assembly work on your instructions (provided they take reasonable care).
7. The Customer will be liable for the ‘Failed Assembly Charge’ if assembly cannot be completed at the location specified due to the nature of the premises, insufficient access, damaged goods or any reason not attributed to the ISEA, which shall include Customer absence. Where return visits are required a travel charge, advised by the ISEA, plus the usual assembly fee will be charged to complete the assembly.
8. Cancellation: your ISEA will understand that in certain circumstances, assembly services may have to be postponed or cancelled. If you need to change a booking date please provide 48 hours notice to your ISEA.
9. Attaching goods to the walls: attaching the goods to the wall or drilling into walls for this purpose is not part of the standard assembly fee. Your flat pack manufacturer may recommend within the assembly instructions to fix the furniture to the wall with the brackets enclosed within the product for safety (prevents tipping) and to ensure the product functions correctly, by remaining in its correct position when you start to load the product.
Note: Your ISEA can only guarantee the correct door alignment if frames are levelled and secured. If it is recommended that the product should be secured and the Customer rejects that advice, the ISEA will provide a ‘Waiver Form’ to be completed and signed by the Customer to absolve the ISEA of any liability. The ISEA will not leave any furniture in a position where it will cause harm or injury, these issues will be discussed prior to the assembly beginning.
Any additional charges for fixing or any other remedial work required (e.g. removing skirting boards, cutting access holes etc) to facilitate your assembly should be discussed and agreed with the ISEA prior to work commencing.
10. Completion: Upon completion of the assembly you or your representative may be required by the ISEA to complete and sign a ‘Completion Sheet’ to confirm the assembly has been completed to your satisfaction.
In the unlikely event that the assembly is not able to be completed for any reason, then this should be noted on the Completion Sheet, detailing the finite list of outstanding work and if possible an indication of when the work will be completed. This sheet should be signed by the Customer and the ISEA agreeing to the outstanding works and proposed resolution.
11. Payment: Please discuss with your ISEA method of payment prior to work starting. Following completion of your assembly, please make payment directly to the ISEA.
12. Data Protection: Your personal data will not be used (as defined in the Data Protection Act 2018) for any marketing purpose, other than purposes directly relating to your assembly.
